New Mexico State Police Arrest Felon Wanted by U.S. Marshals Service
Santa Fe, NM—On December 27th, 2024, agents from the United States Marshals Service and the Special Threat Investigative Unit with the New Mexico Department of Corrections contacted the New Mexico State Police to assist in apprehending a wanted felon.
The United States Marshals Service (USMS) gathered intelligence indicating that Robert Jimenez, 25, was located at 3328 James Avenue in Santa Fe. Jimenez had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation, which stemmed from a prior conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Jimenez has a long history of violent offenses, which includes aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting at or from a moving vehicle, armed robbery, aggravated fleeing from law enforcement, trafficking controlled substances, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Given Jimenez's history of violence, the New Mexico State Police Tactical Team was requested to assist with his arrest.
Jimenez was successfully apprehended and taken into custody without incident. During the arrest, a firearm was found in his possession. Jimenez has been booked into the Santa Fe County Detention Center due to an outstanding warrant and is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The arrest of Robert Jimenez demonstrates how NMSP continues to ensure public safety through collaboration with law enforcement agencies to bring dangerous felons to justice.
