The Alamogordo High School Tiger Basketball kicked off their abridged season with a Boys and a Girls game against the Centennial Hawks. The mostly silent court was the result of no fans in the stands, but that did not stop an exciting game for the each school. For the fans and parents the games were live streamed and will be the remainder of the season.
The Alamogordo Boys rallied to a huge victory with a Tiger score of 60 over the Hawks 34 points. Alamogordo's point leaders where two raging Tigers with Ivan Bernal garnering 16 points and Harlan Gilbert nipping at his heels with 15 points. Awesome job fellows.
The Tiger Girls also began their season, however the Basketball Gods were less kind to the Tiger Girls for their first game against the Centennial Girl Hawks. The Lady Tigers purred their way onto the court but didn't show the aggression this season opener that the Lady Hawks seemed to show. The final score was Tiger Girls 41 to a winning Centennial Hawks with an impressive 64 points. The three Tiger Girls points leaders were; Kayla Mathie with 7 points, Sydney Lessentine, with 6 points, tying Jacqueline Vera, also with 6 points. The Alamogordo Girls showed enthusiasm with this season opener and though disappointed, we are all very proud of their efforts tonight.
Congratulations to both teams for good sportsmanship and the courage to compete in the weird year of interscholastic sports as we evolve from the cold dark days of the Covid-19 winter.
worthwhile steps in the battle to keep the trump/musk regime from converting our nation into a government of the billionaires, for the billionaires, and by the billionaires.
You forgot to mention Flag Day, Saturday, June 14th.
I was puzzled as to why June 30th would be set as National Meteor Day, because I didn't recall any major meteor showers on or around that date.
So I looked it up. It turns out it's a date I should've remembered.
and, it's useful to note that the 14th will be NO KINGS DAY, with peaceful demonstrations across the nation - calling for concerned citizens to protest the actions of the trump/musk regime - and save our constitutional form of government.
Sunny, with a high of 97 and low of 65 degrees. Sunny in the morning, clear overnight.
After reading Milk's bio on Wikipedia I can't see why anyone would want to name a ship or anything else for him.
For one thing, he was a pedophile;
they could name it the donald j. trump, for a draft dodger whose daddy saw to it that a doctor provided a questionable letter, stating that he had bone spurs...resulting in a draft deferment during the vietnam war.
He has a store in Alamogordo, but is based in Artesia. Kinda like calling Walmart a local business.
If you look up Peco's Valley Pizza, dba as Domino's Pizza you'll find he has had multiple lawsuits against him and his company, more than one of which were for unpaid wages, among other things.
Mr. Baake,
several students placed in the top five statewide and nine in the top three
And that out of what appears to be a class of 7.
Gotta love the new math.
Are we over reacting to these measles outbreaks?
From the headlines and stories you'd think measles were as deadly as Anthrax.
Before the 1970's, getting the measles was just part of growing up, and for the most part was treated with the same urgency as a cold or skinned knee.
"if we can prevent a disease, why not take those preventative measures?" well said.
in this day and age, anyone who imagines that there is any non-partisan election anywhere in this nation - from president to dog catcher - is living in a fairyland. as noted herein, disputes between city & county are exhibit #1 to show the concept is a sham.
I agree with the first part of Mr. Mitchell's statement, there's no such thing as a totally non-partisan elected official.
But I don't agree that disagreements between city & county are proof of concept.
for perhaps a better perspective - let's zoom in a little closer....can you tell me that there is never discord between the majority republican alamogordo city officials and the democratic controlled state government. more specifically, can you say that and keep a straight face?
