Valley of The Fire Sculptured Collection – Volcanic Lava Stone, Wood & Metal Sculptured Art by New Mexico Artist Rene Sepulveda showcased at Roadrunner Emporium, 928 New York Avenue Alamogordo, New Mexico
Approximately 5,000 years ago, Little Black Peak located in Southern New Mexico erupted and flowed 44 miles into the Tularosa Basin, filling the basin with molten rock. The resulting lava flow is four to six miles wide, 160 feet thick and covers 125 square miles.
From a distance, the region appears as barren rock but when you visit the nature trails there are many varieties of flowers, cactus, trees, and bushes typical of the Chihuahuan desert. Animals include a variety of desert ants, bugs, bats, roadrunners, quail, cottontails, mule deer, barberry sheep, lizards, great horned owls, burrowing owls, turkey vultures, hawks, gnat catchers, cactus wrens, sparrows, and golden eagles and more.
5000 years later Alamogordo's own award winning NCAA Track & Field Coach Rene Sepulveda has turned his passion from fitness and science into an additional talent that being an expression of beauty by creating wonderful works of art. The artist Rene Sepulveda has launched his 3rd annual collection of works crafted as a tribute to the wildlife, flowers, cactus, and beauty of the region. His highly sought after and prized sculptures are crafted from recycled lava, woods and metals found from the Tularosa Basin and Sacramento Basin. His most expensive elite pieces are also crafted from desert Cholla Cactus and Lincoln Forest tree roots to make one of a kind and highly prized large elite sculptured art pieces for businesses, offices and fine homes across the US, Canada and Mexico.
The molten lava rock he uses in his sculptured pieces is repurposed rock pulled from abandoned homes and abandoned locations; repurposed into a “second life” as an “artistic sculpture” to bring joy and value to the owner of each unique piece.
Artist Rene Sepulveda was introduced to the beauty of natural lava mixed with metal and wooden elements, during his childhood visits to the home of Mr. and Ms. Pack, of Alamogordo, whose exclusive estate was custom built and designed to showcase these unique local elements. Years later Rene Sepulveda has designed this collection in memory of their inspiration.
Each crafted piece is worked by hand, painted, treated and imagined as distinctly different. No two pieces of lava rock, cholla or root systems used in his art sculptures are ever the same. Each is cleaned, treated, sealed, and enhanced to preserve it and the artistic creation for generations of enjoyment. Each of his elite collection comes with a letter of authenticity signed by the artist. The purchasers name may be registered, if so desired into the artists data base as an original purchaser as each piece is expected to increase in value as many are seen as highly collectable due to their uniqueness and few artists around the world work in the mediums of lava rock, cholla cactus and root art sculpturing.
Artist Rene Sepulveda's new Valley of the Fire Collection is gaining much notoriety with purchasers clamoring for certain pieces which have been sold to fine homes and offices throughout the US. One recent Rene Sepulveda sculptured piece was acquired by the STARZ Network and is featured in one of their series in production as a set piece. Other pieces from his " Valley of the Fire Elite Series have ended up in fine homes around Hollywood, Key West and Telluride Colorado as well as in New Mexico and Texas.
