Runners, walkers and wine lovers have the unique opportunity to run a 5K race around the Heart of the Desert pistachio groves Saturday, Feb. 8.
Each contestant receives a Wine Run t-shirt, custom race bib, souvenir wine glass, finisher medal and a pour of wine at the end of the race. There is also a 0K option for those who want to participate but would rather go straight for the wine.
George and Marianne Schweers, owners of Heart of the Desert Pistachios and Wine and hosts of Saturday’s race, have selected Thrive in Southern New Mexico as the receiving charity.
The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in front of the Heart of the Desert store at 7288 Hwy 54/70. Preregistration for the race is currently open for $40, $25 for participants aged 1 -20. On race day, registration increases to $50.
After the race, runners are invited to relax on the Patio at Heart of the Desert.
