Police Seek Suspect in Monday Shooting in Las Cruces Monday’s shooting at a home on Princess Jeanne Drive resulted in the death of 34-year-old Steven Sanchez and police are actively looking for the man believed to be responsible.
Investigators have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Isaiah Joseph Rea, 25, the man police believe killed Sanchez. The whereabouts of Rea are unknown to police.
Rea is charged with one first-degree felony count of murder.
About 3:30 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2024, police were dispatched to a home on the 1900 block of Princess Jeanne Drive where they found Sanchez suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Through their investigations, police learned that Rea was responsible for the death of Sanchez.
Rea is believed to still be armed with a firearm and should be considered dangerous.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Isaiah Joseph Rea is asked to immediately call police at (575) 526-0795. Anyone who knowingly harbors a wanted person can also be charged with a felony.
