Alamogordo Police Department Issues a Theft Prevention Advisory

In reading the police blotters and daily Alamogordo Police Activity Reports it’s obvious that there is a huge uptick in automobile robberies and car thefts. This is happening not only in the shopping centers but near private homes and on private property. 

The Alamogordo police department reminds the public their top priority is public safety, and they need your help to secure our community.

Remember, a few simple steps can go a long way in preventing theft and ensuring your belongings are safe. Here are some important reminders:

1️⃣ Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Hide your valuables from plain sight. Thieves are less likely to break in if they don't see anything tempting. Put your belongings in the trunk or take them with you.

2️⃣ Lock it Up: Always lock your vehicle, even if you're just stepping away for a moment. Unlocked cars are an easy target for thieves. Let's make their job harder by locking up!

3️⃣ Take It With You: Take your valuables with you whenever possible. Even if hidden, items left in your car can still attract unwanted attention. Remember, it's better to be safe than sorry!

Report Suspicious Activity: If you notice anything unusual in your neighborhood or near your vehicle, don't hesitate to report it to the police dispatch.
