In other  police news it was announced that the Alamogordo Chief of Police will be leaving his role in Alamogordo soon. Chief Denton began his career with the Department of Public Safety on July 24, 2000, which included fire and police services. He assisted all units in the department, but his primary focus was always been patrol prior to his appointment to chief in 2000. "I have always felt that is where I best served my community," he said at the time of his appointment to Chief. He was selected as the chief after 4 competing applicants were interviewed.

Chief Denton has been good for the department and has worked with community outreach to reestablish getting arrest logs before the Public, working on training and professionalism and ensuring the department is properly maintained with equipment needed.

The city of Alamogordo will be seeking a new chief and applicants local and nationwide will be encouraged to apply. For more information follow the APD’s Facebook page or the website for the city of Alamogordo.
