James Matthew Lyons, 58, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026.
Born on July 25, 1968, James grew up in Alamogordo and remained a proud part of the community throughout his life. He was a true jack of all trades, known for his ability to fix, build, create, and figure out almost anything. Whether he was working on a project, helping someone solve a problem, or simply lending a hand, James was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and get to work. If something needed to be fixed, James was usually the person people turned to.
James had a wonderful sense of humor and a personality that made him impossible to forget. He could make people laugh, often when they least expected it, and he had a way of bringing his own unique brand of humor into just about any situation. James also never knew a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with nearly anyone, and before long, that person would feel as though they had known him for years.
James was a family man. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in the people he loved. He was generous with his time, always willing to help, and gave freely of himself to those around him. His family and friends will forever cherish the countless memories, stories, laughter, and moments he created throughout his life.
James is survived by his wife, Christina; his children: Matthew and his spouse, Katelynn; Adriana and her spouse, Alfredo; Samanta and her spouse, Tyler; Jonathan and his spouse, Anjelina; Grayson and his spouse, Katie; Sabrina; his grandchildren, Lila, Lucius, Cambria Jade, and Theia.
He is also survived by his brothers, Edward Lyons and Robert Lyons; his sisters, Carol Lyons, Melanie Hallbeck, and Tyana Lehman; his former wives, Yolanda Mendez and Melinda Vecellio. He leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members, including his beloved cousins, Connie Perusse and Mark Brown, and his aunt, Gloria Sedillo-Martinez.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Lyons, and his brother, AJ Lyons.
Most of all, James will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his unforgettable sense of humor, his willingness to help others, and the lasting impression he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of those who loved him, the laughter, stories, and memories he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
