Charles Robert Adams II, 76, was born in Frankfort, KY on January 24, 1950, to the union of Charles Robert Adams, Sr. and Avis (Wolfe) Adams. The family relocated to Dayton, OH in 1952. Charles peacefully earned his wings on May 7, 2026.
After graduating High School in 1968, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served from 1968 to 1972 as an Avionics Communications Specialist, to include an 18 month tour in Saigon, Vietnam. After separating, Charles worked for Systems Research Labatory/Veridian Systems in Beavercreek, OH as an Electronics Technican for 27 years. He was a proud, confirmed bachelor until the age of 46. He accompanied his wife to Holloman AFB in October 2000 and secured employment as an Electronics Technician with the 846 Test Squadron for ten years.
While living in Dayton, OH, Charles was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Zion Baptist Church. He served on the Transportation Ministry at Zion BC for four years. After moving to Alamogordo, NM, he became a member of Corinth Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor James E. Forney. Charles was ordained as a deacon in 2006. He was a member of the Men’s Chorus and he was the church’s computer systems specialist. Before his health failed, Charles attended Sunday school, Baptist Training Union, Laymen’s Bible Study, and Wednesday evening prayer service. He was also an active member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., Laymen’s Movement.
Charles leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 30 years, Vernice and daughter, Alexandria. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Denise Hurts and Angela (Eural) Davis; two brothers-in-law, Tyrone (Kowanda) Norwood and Donald (Paula) Norwood; six nephews, Lennox Palmer, Floyd Hurts, Darren Davis, Bryant Norwood, Samuel Hurts, Jr., Tahj Norwood; two nieces, Gina Carter and Jalen Norwood. He also leaves to cherish his memories, a very special first cousin, Pamela Reaves, and high school classmate, Joyce Maness.
The Homegoing Celebration for Charles Robert Adams, II will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at the Alamogordo Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with graveside celebration immediately following at Monte Vista Cemetery.
