August 4th Forum: Understanding the Proposed Alamo City Dream Center
This edition of 'Voices of Alamogordo' will examine the proposed Alamo City Dream Center—a major community initiative aimed at addressing homelessness, food insecurity, and crisis support in Otero County. The forum will feature an expert panel discussion exploring the Dream Center's mission, operational model, and role within the broader community.

What is the Alamo City Dream Center?
The Alamo City Dream Center is a proposed community-based social services facility proposed to be designed to serve vulnerable populations in Alamogordo and Otero County. Operating Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 8 PM, the Dream Center proposes to provide:
● Daily hot meals through an on-site soup kitchen
● Safe daytime shelter with shower and laundry facilities
● Emergency crisis relief services to Otero County residents
● Support services focused on restoring dignity and hope
● Rehab support services
The initiative operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity with Mountain View Church providing foundational leadership and oversight. The project as proposed represents a $1.98 million capital investment and approximately 6,500 square feet of dedicated facility space. The City of Alamogordo has committed $200,000 of seed money when paired with matching grants.
