Tonight, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 6:30 PM, the Alamogordo City Commission holds its regular meeting – and this is a pivotal moment for our community. The ongoing search for a permanent city manager has reached a critical stage, with executive session interviews for finalists on the 12th.
No single role in city government impacts daily life more directly than the city manager. This position oversees essential services – from public safety and infrastructure to budgeting, economic development, and quality-of-life issues like water rates, parks, and community programs. Yet, over the past decade, Alamogordo has endured a revolving door of leadership: multiple short tenures, frequent interims, controversial resignations, ethics probes into past recruitment processes, and recent finalist withdrawals citing political interference. This instability has contributed to delayed projects, eroded public trust, staff morale challenges, and stalled progress on key priorities.
Enough is enough. A decade of turnover must end with a choice that prioritizes continuity, transparency, knowledge, and proven results over politics or external agendas. Residents have repeatedly voiced strong support for stability and focus on fiscal responsibility.
If you care about effective, consistent leadership that delivers reliable services without constant disruption, come to tonight’s meeting.
Sign up during the public comment period and let the commissioners hear directly from you. Your presence and spoken words can influence this decision and help break the cycle of short-term fixes.
The meeting is at City Hall (likely the usual chambers – check the CivicClerk portal at alamogordonm.portal.civicclerk.com for the latest agenda and any amendments). Show up early, stay respectful, and make your voice count. Alamogordo deserves better – let’s demand it together.
