With a third new art gallery opening soon, the performance space at the Flickinger Center showcasing live entertainment and the expanded offerings of Roadrunner Emporium showcasing over 40 local artists, crafters, antiques dealers, jewelers, Native American crafts and more, the historic New York Avenue District of Alamogordo is quickly becoming known for unique offerings as the “Santa Fe of the South.”

Roadrunner Emporium has recently expanded its offerings, upgrading its historic 1904 building with a nod to the past with refurbished showcases built in 1915 highlighting the works of modern local artists and craftspeople, in addition to its collection of vintage Native American crafts, antiques, vintage and modern jewelry, embroidered arts, needlepoint and more. The Roadrunner Emporium has the largest selection of “Exclusively Alamogordo” crafted and produced artisanal items in New Mexico.

The autumn season is just around the corner and now is the time to travel south and visit the awesome hiking trails of the Lincoln National Forest just 10 miles from Alamogordo, or visit White Sands National Park, check out the historic Tularosa Basin Museum of History, the International Space Hall of Fame and one of the oldest and most intimate zoo experiences in America at the Alameda Park Zoo.
