Weekend Alamogordo, Tularosa, Cloudcroft Football Highlights, Tiger Athlete of the Week
High School Football was the highlight of this weekend across the region as local teams competed. The Tigers recognize Dylan Hergenreder as the Tiger Football Athlete of the Week for 10/11/24. The Tiger Athlete of the Week is sponsored by The Winners' Circle and Tularosa Basin Telephone Company/Tularosa Communications, Inc and hosted by 101.9, 1230 AM Alamo Sports.
The Alamogordo Tigers played Carlsbad this weekend in a competitive game. Game highlights included a even performance the first quarter with both teams scoreless as it ended. In the second quarter Carlsbads Kaden Lopez tossed a 5 yard touchdown pass to Eaven Leos. The XP was no good and the score was 6 and 0 at the halftime with Carlsbad in the lead.
In the third quarter, Carlsbads Kason Perez pushed a 38 yard touchdown pass to Robert Castaneda. The 2 point XP try was no good.
Carlsbad led Alamogordo 12 to 0 wth 11:28 to go in the second quarter.
Alamogordo finally scored withDylan Hergenreder making a 4 yard touchdown run and Vazquez XP was good. Alamogordo scored and the score was Tigers 7 to Carlsbad 12.
Then Carlsbad's Kason Perez then made a 21 yard touchdown pass to Robert Castaneda. Then Carlsbad led Alamogordo 19 to 7 with 6:15 to go in the 3rd quarter. As the quarter wound down, the Tigers Nate Best pushed a 3 yard touchdown run and Vazquez's XP good. Alamogordo tightened the game to 19 to 14.
Then Carlsbad rallied Ian Sandoval to a 2 yard touchdown run. Carlsbad then led Alamogordo 26 to 14 with 7:13 to go in the 4th quarter. Alamogordo's Nate Best passed another 39 yard touchdown pass to Tristan Bowman. Then the Vazquez was XP good tightening the game. Carlsbad led Alamogordo 26 to 21.
The game concluded Carlsbad defeating Alamogordo 26 to 21. The Tigers drop their record to 1 and 7 and 0 and 4 in the district. The Tigers next play at Las Cruces on Thursday.
In other football highlights Tularosa High School defeated the Loving Falcons 12 to 6. The Wildcats improved their record to 5 and 3 and leading their division with a 2 to 0 ranking in their district. Tularosa's Michael Hood. Tularosa Wildcats Quarterback Seth Kazhe threw Hood a 44-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and caught a tipped-pass in the endzone in the fourth quarter to deliver a 12 to 6 victory for the Wildcats. The Wildcats next play at Eunice next Friday.
Melrose defeated Mescalero Apache 52 to 0.
The Chiefs drop to 3 to 4 and 2 to 3 in district. They next host Tatum next Saturday.
Questa defeated Cloudcroft 44-16. The Bears are now at 1 and 6 and, 0-3 in district. They next host Fort Sumner/House on Friday.
