In Boys High School Regional Basketball:
Alamogordo Boys defeated Onate 72-35. Ivan Bernal led the Tigers with 19 points, Scott Mullin had 17, Klevon Spencer with 16 and Harlon Gilbert had 12. Tigers are having a super season and are now 4 wins and 0 losses. The Tiger Boys will host Las Cruces on Saturday.
Tularosa defeated Dexter in play with a score of 58-33. Israel Ortega led the Wildcats with 16 points, Travis Henderson had 14 and Colton Gililland had 10. Wildcats are now 2 wins and 0 losses and will host Lordsburg Tuesday.
In Girls High School Regional Basketball:
Onate defeated The Tiger Ladies of Alamogordo 46-25. Lady Tigers drop to 1 win and 3 losses. Abby Vasquez led the Lady Tigers with 8 points and Justyse Martin had 6. The Lady Tigers will play at Las Cruces High on Saturday.
Cloudcroft defeated Hondo Valley 41-25. Kaylee Hickman led the Lady Bears with 15 points and Tylie Eamello had 14. Lady Bears are now 3 and 0 for the season and play at Lordsburg on Saturday.
Mescalero Apache defeated Chaparral 53-37. Samantha Kazhe and Tunte Baca each had 14 points to lead the Lady Chiefs, Brynn Martinez with 10. The Lady Chiefs are now at 2 wins and 0 losses, will play at NMMI on Saturday.
Dexter defeated Tularosa 47-37. Haylee Hill led the Lady Cats with 16 points and Maycee Griffin had 8. The Lady Cats drop to 0 wins and 2 losses, they will host Lordsburg on Tuesday.

Everything in Alamogordo feels fake to me, as if it is some kind of staging ground or network, not an organic community. Since the Manhattan Project, the military has used the town that way, but then there was a hard separation between the base and the town, and maybe that’s where things went sideways.

The corruption which causes reputational damage is too widespread already and is going to overflow into the public eye soon enough. There is nothing anyone, or any group can do to stop it all from coming out. It is not limited to Chamber of Commerce or MainGate, IMO. Its tentacles are choking this city.
this is not an unusual situation involving chambers of commerce - merging government with business interests is nearly as problematic as merging government with churches. either situation places minority stakeholders in positions to manipulate the public's interests.
