The Village of Ruidoso is under a flash flood warning in Ruidoso until 5:45 pm. Wednesday as more rain is expected in the area.
Residents living in or near Upper Canyon are being asked to leave their homes immediately and seek higher ground. An evacuation shelter has been set up at the White Mountain Relief Center located at 687 Hull Road.
The National Weather Service is predicting flooding to occur in the following areas: Gavilan Canyon, Lower Eagle Creek, Alpine Valley and Ski Run Road. Flooding is also expected in Ruidoso Downs and Glencoe.
Rain in the Ruidoso area is expected to cause flash flooding, debris flows and landslides Wednesday afternoon. Here is a list of current road closures in the area:
