Party complaint leads to stabbing death - 2nd Life Media Alamogordo Town News

A murder investigation is underway concerning a murder on 2nd Street in the early morning hours of June 1st. 

A party was loud and rambling and going on until the early morning hours. The stabbed individual went to the party and asked them to contain the party and quiet down. The police were called to do a check due to complaints and upon checking on the situation they found the complainant dead of a stab wound. 

The Alamogordo police released the following statement:

At approximately 04:30 AM on Saturday, June 1, 2024, Alamogordo Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the 800 block of Second Street in reference to a welfare check. Once at the residence, Officers located a 65-year-old male deceased with an apparent stab wound.

The Twelfth Judicial District Major Crimes Unit was activated and assumed the investigation.

This ongoing case is being investigated by the Twelfth Judicial District Major Crimes Unit which is a task force consisting of investigators from the State of New Mexico, Office of the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney, Alamogordo Police Department, Otero County Sheriff's Office, New Mexico, Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, and Ruidoso Police Department.

The Alamogordo Police Department is asking for anyone with information regarding this investigation to contact Detective Sergeant Mark Esquero at (575) 439-4300.

The 12th Judicial Major Crimes Unit is seeking assistance from the citizens of Alamogordo regarding a recent homicide case that occurred on June 1, 2024.

We are asking residents and business owners to review their video surveillance footage from June 1, 2024, between 4:20 AM and 7:30 AM, for a male subject approximately 6'1" tall, wearing dark clothing.

This individual may have been walking eastbound in the area between 1st Street to 18th Street and White Sands Blvd. to Juniper Drive.
