Congratulations to High Rolls Mountain Park Elementary on having the most student growth from February to March in the iStation Rising Star Challenge! They grabbed the trophy from last month's leaders Holloman Elementary School.


It is Youth Art Month and Otero Arts Inc this month is hosting an exhibition to include 11 area schools. The reception began on Friday they hosted a beautiful and well-attended open house for all the students, families, and community! The exhibition is open Thursday thru Sunday 1 pm to 4 pm till the end of April.




Happy School Library Month. Last month students at Mountain View Middle School studied pop-up books and created these amazing tunnel books!


Summer 2024 Student Internship opportunities are now posted on the Alamogordo Public Schools hiring site. Students will be paid $15 per hour and the internships are open to Juniors & Seniors, with Seniors given priority.

Exciting News for the Alamogordo Public Schools CTE program! A few weeks ago, APS sent our welding instructor, Tommie Armstrong, to an intensive train-the-trainer program to become certified through NC3 and Lincoln Electric to issue welding certifications. Mr. Armstrong just received word that he passed his certifications, and Alamogordo High School is now an official NC3 certification center.


Alamogordo Public Schools wishes a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of the 65 dedicated volunteers and APS teams who made the District Writing Fair a resounding success. The community contributions have truly made a difference in helping inspire and empower young writers in our community. The winners will be notified by their school and invited to a Young Authors Awards Night in May.

Absolutely. I would say those are conservative numbers at 1 in 40. The quickest way to become wealthy in America is to enter politics. I would say Miss McDonald is 1 in a 109. The family fun center fiasco is a true memorial to what nepotism and back room dealing will get you.

Everything in Alamogordo feels fake to me, as if it is some kind of staging ground or network, not an organic community. Since the Manhattan Project, the military has used the town that way, but then there was a hard separation between the base and the town, and maybe that’s where things went sideways.

The corruption which causes reputational damage is too widespread already and is going to overflow into the public eye soon enough. There is nothing anyone, or any group can do to stop it all from coming out. It is not limited to Chamber of Commerce or MainGate, IMO. Its tentacles are choking this city.
this is not an unusual situation involving chambers of commerce - merging government with business interests is nearly as problematic as merging government with churches. either situation places minority stakeholders in positions to manipulate the public's interests.
