Otero County Receives $10 Million in Funding for Roads via Biden Sponsored American Rescue Plan Act
In a statement from New Mexico Gov. Lujan Grisham she said “It is incumbent on government at all levels to make sure that every penny of this historic funding (American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL)) is spent on projects that transform New Mexico communities and improve the quality of life for those who live here".
In speaking of a new portal created to track the spending of allocated funds in New Mexico Gov. Lujan Grisham ,"This is a tool to illustrate the magnitude of projects being made possible through this funding, but also to make sure the public can hold state and local government accountable and track the progress of projects happening in their own communities.”

The allocation of road funds to Otero County is close to $10 Million dollars in total of which a majority has been expended per the state reporting system. The funds granted to Otero County New Mexico for roads was a part of the Biden Administration Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) of November 2021, a historic investment in U.S. infrastructure, addressing roads, bridges, public transit, broadband, clean energy, water systems and more. It reflected a bipartisan Republican and Democratic effort to tackle legacy contamination, meet crucial infrastructure needs, and spur economic growth with a target to big projects and rural communities willing to participate in the application processes via a variety of departments within the Biden Administration.
