Rochelle Williams is the artist showcased during the month of February 2024 via a photographic exhibition at Otero Arts.
Otero Arts is open from 1 pm to 4 pm Thursday thru Sunday free to the public at 1118 Indiana, Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Many people in the close-knit arts community of Alamogordo are familiar with Ms. William’s as an accomplished writer and arts activist.
In a post on social media Ms William explains her photography and invites the public to Friday’s opening reception.
Rochelle Williams, “Hi friends--help me celebrate my first ever solo photography show! Reception Feb 2, 5-7 pm, at Otero Artspace. The show runs through the month of February. I really can’t say how excited I am and how much this means to me. I've been a closet photographer (much of the time in literal closet darkrooms!) all my adult life. When I turned 70 last November, it felt like time to finally go public. Woohoo!”
Rochelle Williams is a familiar face to those in the arts community of Alamogordo, as she sits on the board of Otero Arts and has been involved in arts and other activities in the area since arriving to Alamogordo almost 2 decades ago.
Some folks have seen glimpses of photography at various venues. Other's have read a few of her short stories and snippets that have been published in various periodicals dating back to 1995 such as the story, Intaglio which won second place in Southwest Writers Workshop literary short story contest in 1995. The judge was Elizabeth Gaffney of Paris Review. It was subsequently published in The Eldorado Sun fiction issue.

In 2022, Rochelle Williams took the next step in her literary journey, with the release of her first published works in a book format that being Acts of Love & Ruin, a collection of short stories and snippets by the author as her first paperback and hardback book release.

New sidewalks for some neighborhoods. What about the Walker area that is also in her district. Seeing is believing, Walker area has always been ignored.
Have you ever messaged her about it, or are you just complaining to complain? Her actions speak louder than all the other commissioners combined.
She championed and approved $12 million dollars worth of Water system upgrades for walker road and yet you choose to ignore that. It is in the design phase with contract bidding to be announed in early 2026 with work to begin in later spring. That is the largest capital investment in Walker Road in over 50 years.
Did anyone see what Senator Charles Grassley is saying about AI yesterday. What does that have to do with this? It might explain why legal systems in many cities are such a mess.
But also: Why is no one talking about the DISMAL low income housing in Alamogordo, and the need to investigate what is going on in those places, and the lack of housing for homeless???????????

It is interesting as you delve into the family, business and indeed religious connections that are intertwined in city politics. Some folks have a whole lit of fleas scratching the dog.

I somehow got logged out without doing so since last time I was here. I wanted to view the Flickinger meeting on Facebook but cannot because my account was taken down. I do not attend these public events because of all the attempts to mess with my life already.
