2nd Life Media and Alamogordo Town News Expands Reach and Staff

2nd Life Media is proud to announce the expansion of staff and platforms in 2024. What began as AlamogordoTownNews.com expanded to include Alamogordo Conservative Daily on News Break, then the acquisition of KRAZY KALH Radio. Now in 2024 our influence is spreading. 2nd Life Media has partnered with two university programs and has expanded it staff to include intern reporters located in various markets to help our coverage of issues around the state and the nation. In addition 2nd Life Media is now working with a team for the launch of the Desert Chronicle and the Palm Springs Examiner.

The end of 2023 brought new members to our business. Locally a majority of stories will still be produced under the bi-line of Chris Edwards. But new perspectives will also be introduced by writers to include Mica Maynard and Stella Rose. These two new editions to our team come to us via an internship program.

Mica Maynard is a graduate student of political science from the University of California in Berkeley. She is writing her Masters Thesis on the political dramas of Otero County New Mexico. As an African American Activist she was intrigued with the Couy Griffin saga within Otero County. She said she is an advocate for "Black Lives Matters" gets the concept of "All Live Matter" and suggests that is the true root of the "Black Lives Matter" thinking that people miss.

Mica Maynard has been engaging in research and political coverage in and around Santa Fe, and Northern New Mexico and is establishing contacts at various levels of government to understand the viewpoints of state officials when it comes to Otero County. As an outsider looking in she will bring a fresh prospective and commentaries. In our dialogue to date with Mica we have found her to be full of energy, ideas and opinions. Some of those opinions will settle well with a majority of our readers and some will plain outright upset some of our readers.

And that is okay our job is to inform but also to engage public discussion and debate. Love us, hate us it does not matter we will perform a service of dialog and discussion..

Stella Rose joins our team in 2023 as well and stories from her will begin being published later this week. Mrs. Rose is a journalism major. Her intrigue in interning with 2nd Life Media is the fact, we are an independent news agency in a small rural community that is conservative and economically challenged.

Mrs. Rose has a unique perspective of southern journalism having grown up in a family that once owned multiple newspapers across the nation with a concentration of ownership in large Southern Cities. Her grandfather was a well known figure in southern media. Yet, she shys away from her family history, as she wants to make an impact on her own. She feels an internship with 2nd Life Media provides her "an opportunity to imbed herself into a setting unlike any she has ever lived before."

2nd Life Media will continue on its path of presenting information to our readers and listeners and now to an even broader audience with additional resources and additional avenues to share difference perspectives.

To our readers and followers that have supported our efforts to date. We appreciate your kindness and your support. To those that distract, dish and throw stones at us. We appreciate you as well as that proves that we are doing our job. Our job is not always to make those in power happy. Our job is to tell stories, engage in dialogue and at times to spark debate. Debate is good.

We look forward to our reader comments on stories and commentaries from our new contributors in the new year.

May 2024 bring the power of the 1st Amendment to the forefront as a reminder of its importance to a civil and informed society.
