In Girls Basketball regional action the Alamogordo High School Lady Tigers defeated El Paso Da Vinci School on the road 73 to 35. Abby Vazquez and Teeya Gordon each had 15 points to lead the Lady Tigers, Madisen Flores with 10 and Elizabeth Needham had 9. The Lady Tigers improved their seasonal record to 4 and 3 and they next host Carlsbad on Monday.
Alamo Navajo defeated Mescalero Apache 53 to 48 at the Mescalero Holiday Tournament. Skyla Enjady led the Lady Chiefs with 17 points and Kaylionna Rocha had 15. The Lady Chiefs drop to a record of 4 wins and 1 loss. Next Gateway Christian defeated Mescalero Apache 30 to 29 in the 3rd place game of the Mescalero Holiday Tournament. Kaylyn Chino led the Lady Chiefs with 7 points. The Lady Chiefs dropped their record to 4 and 2 and next play at Fort Sumner Shootout on Friday.
Girls Basketball Animas defeated Cloudcroft 51- to 3 at the Mountain Top Tournament. Kylie Adams led the Lady Bears with 16 points. The Lady Bears dropped to a record of 3 wins and 4 losses.
Lordsburg then defeated Cloudcroft 74 to 40 in the 3rd place game of Mountain Top Tournament. Kylie Adams led the Lady Bears with 11 points, Ellie Beug had 9 and Tristyn Housler had 7.The Lady Bears drop to 3 and 6, and next play at the Capitan Tournament on Thursday.
Magdalena defeated Tularosa 48 to 21 at the Texico Tournament. The Lady Cats dropped to 3 and 3. Then Tatum defeated Tularosa 55 to 4 in the 3rd place game at Texico Tournament. Maycee Griffin led the Lady Cats with 10 points, Kadence Kowatch had 6.Lady Cats now 3 wins and 4 losses as a record this season to date and next play at West Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Boys Basketball -Tularosa defeated Santa Rosa 71 to 56 to win the 25th annual Johnny May Classic. Dillon Salazar led the Wildcats with 33 points and Zaine Hodges had 16. Seth Kazhe named the tournament Most Valuable Player, Dillon Salazar, Jacoby Apachito and Fabian Pacheco named to the all-tournament team. The Wildcat Boys continue their path undefeated and improve their to 7 wins and 0 losses. They next host Jemez Valley on Tuesday.
Prior Tularosa defeated Ruidoso 71 to 37 at the Johnny May Classic. Jacoby Apachito led the Wildcats with 14 points, Seth Kazhe had 13 and Fabian Pacheco had 9.
Capitan Boys defeated Mescalero Apache 43 to 42 in the 3rd place game of the Mescalero Holiday Tournament. Darius Wheeler led the Chiefs with 14 points, Landyn Hiles had 8 and Angelo Rocha with 7.Chiefs drop to 4 and 4 they next play at the Fort Sumner Shootout on Friday. Prior Escalante defeated Mescalero Apache in a close game of 52 to 51 at the Mescalero Holiday Tournament. Darius Wheeler had 15 points to lead the Chiefs, Angelo Rocha had 14 and Jason Kanseah with 10.
Boys Basketball - Clovis Christian defeated Cloudcroft 60 to 48 in the 3rd place game of the Mountain Top Tournament. Hoyt Condito led the Bears with 25 points and Dominic Romero had 10. The Bears drop to their record to 3 wins and 4 losses and they next host Carrizozo on January 8th.
