AlamogordoTownNews.com Zoo Boo, Anthony Lucero and Halloween on New York Avenue
Saturday saw many Halloween festivities in Alamogordo, New Mexico from Boo Zoo, to the New York Avenue Trick or Treat; the kids had a big day in Alamogordo Saturday, all day, celebrating Halloween.
Saturday was a day all witches, vampires, princesses, cowboys, runners, and more came to Alameda Park Zoo and then the New York Avenue Business, History and Cultural Arts District.
Racers received a race t-shirt and awards for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place men/women and boys/girls as well received awards as best costume for 5K and Kids Mile. Awards were given out at Zoo Boo. Reports were long lines at the zoo and thousands of kids received candy and more having a great time in positivity and a sense of community hosted by the small businesses of Alamogordo.
Fun was shared by all. The biggest and funniest scandal of the day was the KALH program director caught cheating to win kids race at this year's ZooBoo. Not only was he well over the age bracket, sources say Anthony Lucero was seen boarding a golf cart to be spirited away to the finish line, nullifying his claim to a 3½ minute mile run. Instead of receiving a medal for his "winning" the race, Lucero's prize for cheating was receiving three pies to his face by legitimate winners
Anthony Lucero was questioned for comment by AlamogordoTownNews.com after we received a News Tip from the Lemur Cage… Anthony’s Response “Chris I don't care what that lemur told you, I wasn't cheating! Did you ask the marmosets?”
On New York Avenue merchants passed out candy and celebrated Halloween with cool window displays and lots of candy handed out. The Local Bodega reported over 700 kids entered the store for treats. Roadrunner Emporium handed out over 3000 pieces of candy and had fun for kids and adults.
