Jerry Lynn Guss passed from this life to the loving arms of His Heavenly Father on July 30, 2026, in El Paso, Texas. He was born on September 25, 1950, in Portales, New Mexico to Paul Guss and Edith Barrett Guss. Jerry was 75 at the time of his passing.
Jerry moved to Alamogordo in May 2018 and quickly became an Active Part of The Church of God of North Carolina in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was a faithful member, loved fellowships, food, bowling, men’s breakfast, Family Camps, and anytime he could be with the Saints of God. Jerry loved giving to the church by keeping up the yards and working at the Church Rummage Sales. He was always there when you needed him to help out with one task or another.
Jerry was a member of the Alamogordo Senior Citizen Center and loved going daily for lunch, visitation with others, exercising on the bike for an hour at a time, and making new friends. He was always there to help others out however he could.
Jerry is survived by two sisters, Pauletta Curtis of Hobbs, New Mexico and Helen English of Jacksonville, Texas, and one brother, Paul (Carol) Guss of Rogers, New Mexico. Jerry is also survived by His Church Family in Alamogordo and numerous friends from around town and the Senior Center.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Guss; mother, Edith Guss; brother, Eugene Guss; brother, Wayne Guss; sister, Frances Curbello.
The family will greet friends and loved ones on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 9:00 am at The Church of God of North Carolina at 916 E 16th Street, Alamogordo, New Mexico followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am officiated by Bishop Richard Colon.
Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at The Portales Cemetery.
