Randle West, 80, of Alamogordo, New Mexico passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Kingsville, Texas to parents Wofford and Wilma, Randy graduated from Falfurrias Texas High School in 1963 and then joined the US Army where he served for four years. He married Connie Pace in August 1968 and lived in several locations, including Kingsville, TX, Mission, TX, and Alamogordo, NM, in 1985. Randy joined the US Border Patrol in 1975 where he was first stationed in McAllen, TX (1975 - 1985) and Alamogordo, NM (1985-1998). He retired as a Supervisory Patrol Agent in July 1998. He continued to serve after retirement as an instructor at the Border Patrol Academy in Charleston, SC, then moved to Artesia to teach at FLETC until 2007.
Randy was an active and dedicated member of his community. He belonged to Grace Methodist Church, Tularosa Masonic Lodge #49, the Alamogordo Elks Club #1897, and the Fraternal Order of Retired Border Patrol Officers. A man who cherished camaraderie and the outdoors, Randy spent many joyful hours hunting and golfing with close friends, creating lasting memories through shared adventures and laughter. Randy and Connie enjoyed many trips with their RV club, traveling with friends. His involvement in these organizations and activities reflected his strong sense of service, fellowship, and appreciation for the simple pleasures of life in southern New Mexico. Randy was a proud American who served his country with distinction throughout his life. His lifelong commitment to duty, community, and patriotic values left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Randy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Connie; his children, Kevin West and Shelly Young (husband Dale); three beloved grandchildren, Colton Hackett, Kaitlyn Fetherolf (husband Tanner), and Mason Hackett; three great grandchildren, Zoey, Kai, and Tate. He was also blessed to have three bonus grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Flora, Erin, DJ, Alyssa, Matthew, Lina. Randy is also survived by his sister, Karen Massey (husband Roy); brother, Alan West (wife Kay); several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wofford and Wilma West.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Grace Methodist Church in Alamogordo with Rev. Kelly McCuaig and Rev. Don Boren officiating. Interment will follow the next day, on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Fort Stanton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the US Border Patrol Museum at 4315 Woodrow Bean, El Paso, TX 79924 (please note in memory of Randle West), or to the Tularosa Masonic Lodge #49, PO Box 51, Tularosa, NM 88352.
