In Memory of Keith Edward Gerber

Keith Edward Gerber, 60, stepped into Heaven on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Keith was born on December 16, 1965, in Glendale, California. He grew up all over the world with his Air Force family, including Japan, Italy, and Washington DC. The Air Force brought them to Alamogordo in 1979 where he attended school and graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1983. Keith received an Associate’s Degree in Business from NMSU-A. He worked for a few businesses in town, including 1-800-Flowers, before finding his true calling and passion with the Counseling Center in Community Corrections Services and Support. The past 20 years, Keith poured his heart into serving his community and helping youth and adults find their way to a healthier, better life. He always did whatever he could and gave generously of himself, time, money, energy, and heart. Most recently, Keith was promoted to Supervisor of the Juvenile Community Corrections Program at TCC and was excited to expand his influence. He was much loved and will be sorely missed in this community.

Keith was a talented guitar player and a gifted wordsmith. He taught many people to play both acoustic and electric guitar and loved to learn new techniques and songs. He published two books of poetry, “I Have Lived: Life From a Cancer Survivor’s Perspective" (2010) and “The Christian Chronicles: Featuring "Jesus Walked" (2012). Keith was working on a third collection. He also posted his poetry often on social media for all to enjoy.

Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy June Gerber. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl and beloved Doxie mix, Suzy; father, Paul; brothers, David and Michael (Sylvia)); three children from his first marriage: son, Michael (Sam) and their children, Everly and Makenna Gerber; daughter, Theresa (Robert Strecker, Jr) and their children, Jayden, Oliver, and Arriana; daughter, Tiffany; all of Alamogordo. He also leaves behind stepchildren, (who he loved as his own) Jason Johnson of Rio Rancho, Steven Seppala of Albuquerque, Jenifer (Bryce) Wilmoth and their daughter, Elianna, of Port Orchard, Washington; sister-in-law, Belinda Fuller of Alamogordo; his Aunt Ruth of Pennsylvania; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and scores of friends and extended family.
