Carmen Marquez, 79, of Tularosa, NM passed away peacefully at her home on April 22, 2026, with her husband and kids by her side.
Carmen was born on December 23, 1946, to Steve and Socorro Montoya in Tularosa where she also attended school. On July 15,1967, she married Robert Marquez, the love of her life. They've been happily married for 58 years and share 3 kids.
Carmen enjoyed deer hunting in her younger years and crafting with Josie Pacheco, Nina Cano and Corina Mirabal. She also enjoyed bowling and going camping, but most of all, spending time with her husband and kids.
Carmen is survived by her husband, Robert Marquez of the family home; son, Robert Jr. (fiancée Irene Garza) of San Antonio, Tx; daughter, Renee Fairbanks and son-in-law Neil of Tularosa; her siblings, Kathy Lopez, Sue Trout (Bruce), James Cooksey of Tularosa, Biily Lopez(Sharon), Patsy Gomez (Freddie) of Las Cruces; sisters-in-law, Gloria Aldaz, Dodie Valdez of Alamogordo, Mary Romero of Colorado, Nellie Slone of Alabama; brother-in-law, Johnny Marquez (Helen) of Alamogordo; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Carmen was preceded in death by her son, Stephen Marquez (2006); her parents, Steve Montoya and Socorro Cooksey; her in-laws, Rosalio and Eulogia Marquez; brother-in-law, Abe Marquez; special friends, Jane Huybers and Val Justis.
Services for Carmen Marquez will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with Mass celebrated at 11:00 am.
Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
