Jerry served in the Air Force beginning March 1957 and retired honorably in July 1979. He was a Vietnam veteran.
Jerry was an active member of the Alamogordo Breakfast Lions Club having joined in 1977 and held offices in all capacities. Jerry received numerous awards during his time with the Lions. He could always be counted on to sell an ear of corn at the Otero County Fair. Jerry was also a VFW member and a long time member of Taking off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) that he joined with late wife Peggy.
Jerry is survived by his children, Gerald "Jerry" Austin with spouse Katrina, and his son Brian; Kathy Falk with spouse Charles, and their son Nathanial; Bryan Austin with spouse Priscilla, and his children Stephanie, Josh and Claire; Marie Bouma with spouse John, and their sons Matthew, Adam, David, and Stephen. Jerry was blessed with 10 great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 35 years, Peggy, and one granddaughter, Bonnie.
He will be missed by all!!!
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Monte Vista Cemetery.
