Merrellee Petrine Moore went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday February 28, 2026, with her husband of 56 years and her daughter by her side.
Merrellee was born on December 24, 1949, in Roswell, New Mexico to Herbert and Berniece (Boots) Whatley. She was the youngest of three children. She married Jacob Daniel Moore on July 10, 1969, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Merrellee was a homemaker and worked with her husband, Danny, who was self-employed. She was active with the Carlsbad Community Theater and the Carlsbad United Methodist Church. She was a dancer, singer, mom, grandma, and great grandma. Merrellee was a devout Christian and a proper lady.
Merrellee was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Boots Whatley; her sister, Sharon Fiala; her brother, Johnny Whatley.
Merrellee is survived by her husband of 56 years, Danny Moore of Cloudcroft, New Mexico; their daughter, Danielle Allen and husband Todd of Norman, Oklahoma; granddaughter, DeLanie Fierro and husband Dalton of Moore, Oklahoma; grandson, Tanner Allen of Charleston, South Carolina; cousins, Katie Lard and husband Ronald of Cloudcroft, New Mexico and Mary Rohr of Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm, Monday, March 9, 2026, at Fort Stanton Veterans Cemetery with Gary Truex officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Shriner’s Children’s non-profit or MS Research.
The Moore family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
