It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife/mother Gloria Gonzales, 81, who passed away peacefully on February 25, 2026, at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico surrounded by her loved ones; husband of 62 years, her children, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. She was born on April 8 ,1944, in Tularosa, New Mexico to Lauro and Elena (Fresquez) Montoya.
Gloria lived a life of devoted service to her family and faith. A dedicated wife and pillar of her church, she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and cherished memories.
With a lifelong career spanning three decades with Boeing, including several roles for the Space Shuttle Program, she was present on multiple missions: the Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavor.
Known to her colleagues for her unwavering dedication and focus, she served in Numerous roles, from bonding heat tiles that protected the shuttle during re-entry, to working in blueprints, working in the tool crib, and quality control for the world's most advanced B1 Bombers.
Gloria retired in 2002 and returned to her hometown in New Mexico with her husband of 62 years. She was the heart of our family and the best mother anyone could have asked for. Gloria's unconditional love shaped who we are today. She was our guiding light. Her selflessness knew no bounds.
Gloria was quite simply the best wife, the best mom, the best grandma, and the best great grandma.

Services for Gloria Gonzales will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am with Mass celebrated at 10:30 am.
Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Bent.
The Gonzales family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
