Alamogordo, NM — As Pablo Vesey’s popular solo exhibition First Light winds down its run at Otero Artspace this month, the nonprofit arts organization is inviting the community to a fun closing celebration: an Ice Cream Social & Silent Auction on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The event at 1118 Indiana Ave. & 12th Street features Albertsons ice cream with caliche toppings for $2 per person ($5 for a family). A silent auction will offer jewelry, collectibles, baked desserts, San Francisco Opera tickets, and more. Tickets are available at oteroarts.org.
Current Exhibition: Pablo Vesey – First Light
Otero Arts is currently showcasing the beautiful Southwestern paintings of Pablo Vesey throughout the month of June. The free exhibition is open Thursdays through Sundays, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.
Vesey, a professional artist for over 50 years, is largely self-taught and works primarily in acrylics. He was an active part of the Taos art community, where he earned 1st place in the annual Taos Art Invitational. After moving to Alamogordo, he created large murals for the Classic Desert Aire Hotel on White Sands Boulevard and is currently designing a major mural for the Alameda Park Zoo. His work is also available in the hotel’s gallery and gift shop.
“I’m inspired by the beautiful New Mexican landscapes and especially the petroglyphs — just the ancient spirit of the land,” Vesey said. His paintings are found in private collections across the United States and internationally, including Japan, Germany, and Australia.
The exhibit is supported by New Mexico Arts, the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the National Endowment for the Arts and local donors and members contributions.
