In a release from the Mescalero Apache Tribe they announced that in response to the mounting pressures of winter weather and rising living costs, the Mescalero Apache Tribe has announced the launch of its Winter Assistance Program – Winter 2025/26, offering up to $700.00 per enrolled tribal member to help offset seasonal expenses.
The initiative, grounded in the Tribe’s commitment to community welfare, aims to support families facing increased costs for heating, groceries, utilities, and essential winter clothing. Tribal leaders emphasized that the program is designed to alleviate financial strain caused by inflation, reduced school services, and recent federal disruptions.

Application Process:
To receive assistance, all tribal members must complete and submit an application. Applications are available starting November 26, 2025, both online and at the Tribal Administrative Offices.

• Applications for non-enrolled children born before midnight on December 12, 2025 will be accepted until December 18, but payments will not be issued until enrollment is complete.
• Incomplete or late applications, including those for minor children, will be denied.
• Payments not picked up on December 18 will be mailed out the following Monday.
