On Saturday, October 18, 2025, both Walmart locations in Alamogordo, New Mexico were evacuated following bomb threats that triggered a full-scale emergency response. The Alamogordo Police Department (APD), supported by fire and EMS crews, secured both buildings and parking lots. No injuries were reported, and all individuals were safely evacuated.
In a show of interagency coordination, bomb-sniffing dogs from Holloman Air Force Base were deployed under a mutual aid agreement to assist APD in sweeping the premises. The specialized K-9 units helped confirm the safety of both locations, allowing law enforcement to complete their investigation efficiently.
This incident follows a troubling pattern of recent bomb threats across Alamogordo:
• In early October, APD responded to a threat at Alamogordo High School (AHS). According to official police logs, a teenage suspect was arrested and referred to juvenile probation in connection with that incident

• In September, the Betty Dare Retirement Community was also targeted by a bomb threat, prompting a lockdown and emergency response. Though no device was found, the incident raised concerns about the vulnerability of senior facilities.
In response to Saturday’s Walmart threats, Alamogordo Police Department issued an evacuation order and relocated staff to the Senior Center for safety and questioning, underscoring the district’s commitment to proactive security measures.

The recent surge in threats mirrors a national trend, particularly targeting Walmart stores. In recent months, bomb threats have been reported at Walmart locations in Texas, Florida, and Georgia, leading to evacuations and heightened security protocols. Law enforcement agencies across the country are investigating whether these incidents are coordinated or copycat in nature.
APD has reiterated its stance that bomb threats are taken seriously, regardless of origin or perceived credibility. Investigations remain ongoing, and the department encourages anyone with information to come forward.

Great stuff happening in Otero County! Time for some changes in Santa Fe the same way. The status quo since 2017 has done nothing for the state.

Interesting. Is there a particular boost someone’s race or gender brings to the table during an election? Kinda racist and sexist to imply so.

barela complained when senate bill 16 was passed - she was prescient - it would disturb the equilibrium in established party politics. and she was right - it tilted the republican vote out of her control. most excellent; democracy has once again raised it's ugly head....
and do not overlook the fact that republicans voted against senate bill 16 - it was filed by, supported by, and passed by democrats in our legislature - for the non-partisan purpose of protecting our democracy.
