This Saturday Alamogordo was well represented as two local coaches Tommy Standerfer and Posthumously Coach Marilyn Sepulveda were each entered into the NMHSCA Coaches Hall of Honor, at the NMAA annual conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Also, a former Alamogordo graduate and former teacher and coach: Wilson Holland, who is now the District Athletic Director of Las Lunas Schools, was awarded the 2025 NMAA Distinguished Service Award.
Coach Tommy Standerfer was recognized via a video produced by the NMAA which can be viewed below on the Alamogordo Town News site in partnership with KALHRadio.org

Coach Standerfer made a tremendous impact in the world of high school golf. After serving as assistant coach from 1994 to 1997, he became Head Golf Coach in 1998. Under his leadership, the Alamogordo Tiger Golf program became one of the most successful in the state, earning 4 state championships, 14 state podium finishes, and 25 district titles. His team produced 6 individual state champions, 39 state medalists, and 22 student-athletes who went on to earn college golf scholarships.
Not since the historic reign of Ralph Tate and Billy Aldridge at Alamogordo High School in the 60s to the early 70s has the Tiger Golf program been so well recognized as a state powerhouse.
Coach Standefer's other accolades include being named rhe NMHSCA Golf Coach of the year in both 2007 and 2024, was a finalist for the NHSACA National Coach of the Year in 2007, and received the Level IV Coaching Milestone for Girl Golf in 2017. He has also served continuously on the NMAA Golf Committee since 1999, shaping the future of the sport statewide.
Congratulations to Coach Tommy Standerfer a recognition well deserved!

we have an inner city?
Now why would a supposedly politically neutral publication post a classified help wanted ad for a politician? Especially when the publication has no other classified ads.
2nd Life Media is just another propaganda arm of the Democrat party, it shows in everything they post.
Chris has made many attempts to be politically neutral. The article is news, even though it is about a yesman.
What make it news? I see an ad for employment.
If it was a news story it might list other elected officials seeking interns, or problems they have with finding qualified individuals. Or it might mention problems people are having in starting a career in politics.
Patting yourself on the back for your activism, how nice.
Where's your concern for accountability from the state or federal EPA?
speaking of patting oneself on the back....your enthusiasm for activism is quite apparent.
Your ignorance is truly amazing, your post makes no sense at all.
The state is using it's authority against the Air Force, suing the AF to take a remedial action it's already engaged in.
The lawsuit is based on what appears to be a fraudulent EPA regulation enacted without scientific input.
DEI is alive and well in New Mexico.
The 2 inaugural recipients of the award are indeed worthy of praise and recognition. Their accomplishments stand out in agriculture overall, not just a small subset.
that's because tolerance, and live-and-let-live are still the default setting for the majority of our citizens - and i count that as a plus, neighbor.
Your ignorance is amazing.
How is a state agency discriminating based on gender a gesture of tolerance?
