Coach Standerfer made a tremendous impact in the world of high school golf. After serving as assistant coach from 1994 to 1997, he became Head Golf Coach in 1998. Under his leadership, the Alamogordo Tiger Golf program became one of the most successful in the state, earning 4 state championships, 14 state podium finishes, and 25 district titles. His team produced 6 individual state champions, 39 state medalists, and 22 student-athletes who went on to earn college golf scholarships.

Not since the historic reign of Ralph Tate and Billy Aldridge at Alamogordo High School in the 60s to the early 70s has the Tiger Golf program been so well recognized as a state powerhouse.

Coach Standefer's other accolades include being named rhe NMHSCA Golf Coach of the year in both 2007 and 2024, was a finalist for the NHSACA National Coach of the Year in 2007, and received the Level IV Coaching Milestone for Girl Golf in 2017. He has also served continuously on the NMAA Golf Committee since 1999, shaping the future of the sport statewide.

Congratulations to Coach Tommy Standerfer a recognition well deserved!
