Alamogordo City Wide Cleanup Another Successful Community Effort

Image

Warn weather, a crowd of organizing volunteers that began around 6 am with setup and volunteers from around the community all assembled on the Dudley School and Community Gardens Saturday morning for another memory filled city wide cleanup.

Organized by Mayor Pro Temp Sharon McDonald this annual event grows larger every year this year including all of the city. Six years ago Mrs. McDonald reenergized the idea of community pride with a community cleanup of the inner city areas of District 5. From their other commissioners joined the effort and the passion for community cleanup grew.

This year dumpster locations were in every district and volunteers combed the city for projects to clean with neighbor helping neighbor.  Congratulations on another successful community effort

New Mexico History- The Founding of Alamogordo and the evolution of High School Athletics 1912- 1950's. | 2nd Life Media Alamogordo Town News

this is an interesting post from several years ago, that might help you understand the origin of the inner city comment.   city councilwoman Sharon McDonald's district 5 is roughly the same area that was the segregated hispanic portion of the town, and the dudley school was their school until desegregation under the civil rights act of 1964.

I am a conservative when voting but re our education system, both parties are to blame.  Very few of our elected officials have the countries best interest at heart when they vote.  One that I do respect and honor is John Kennedy from Louisana because I think he speaks and votes with both his heart and his mind.  I am 87 yrs old, grew up in very small town and small school, graduating class of 25.  Back then the State and Counties were the education department and education was many times better than what children are being taught today.  I am all for doing away with the National Board of Education.  Lets have more influence closer to home.  Shelia Michael, Alamogordo

If I were to design an education system and school today, I would take the text books and curriculum from 1955 and place them in a building without a single electrical outlet outside the administrative offices.
No electronics of any kind in the class room.

a true conservative response - would have been letter-perfect if you had said 1954, that would have put the cut-off date before brown vs board of education - when those "colored people" were kept away from the "white folks".
so, you would "educate" our children, by not revealing any of the science/technology/medical/social advances of the past 70 years?  no mention of the space age/computers/heart-cancer advances (no salk vaccine?)/age-gender-disability-ethnic progress?  of course not - dear leader does not approve of those things....he and his minions are busy trying to erase such advances.  simply astonishing..,
