New Mexico State Police conducted a drug bust in Española. On January 2, 2025, a New Mexico State Police officer in Española was approached by a concerned citizen reporting suspicious activity. The citizen informed the officer about a blue Infiniti frequently parked in the Lowe’s parking lot, where they observed numerous individuals approaching the vehicle. The concerned citizen suspected the activity was drug-related.
Based on this information, New Mexico State Police initiated an investigation into the vehicle. Officers observed behavior consistent with the citizen’s report and suspected drug trafficking. A traffic stop was conducted, leading to the detention of 65-year-old Ysidro Longoria of Española.
During the stop, Longoria was found in possession of a backpack containing 30 individually wrapped foils of fentanyl powder and over $600 in cash. He was arrested and charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Driving While License Revoked for DWI.
