Busy Saturday in Alamogordo Easter Egg Hunt, Community Garden Volunteers and More
Some folks say there is nothing to do in Alamogordo, New Mexico however this Saturday, the day before Easter Sunday proved to be a day of adventure for all types of people seeking a diverse range of adventures or activities. From a free community Easter Egg hunt, to volunteering at the community gardens and Dudley Community Center, learning to create pottery at the La Luz Pottery Factory and ending the night with cool and engaging community theater with the final performance of RENT by the Alamogordo Music Theater; there was plenty of activity this weekend for anyone interested in attending.
The Alamogordo Community Easter Egg Hunt and meet the Easter Bunny event occurred Saturday at Washington Park. Multiple food vendors, crafters and local businesses shared the field and planted eggs for the kiddos to find.
Several community volunteers continue the efforts of fine tuning the new community gardens across from the Dudley Community Center as the community comes together to rebuild and reimagine as a part of the community planting day at the Maryland avenue people’s garden!
601 Maryland Avenue, Alamogordo. It’s exciting to see the vision of a community food harvest initiative and a free to lend tools program launch in the historic Chihuahuita area of Alamogordo’s historic inner city neighborhood.
We are so proud of our community and organizations collaborating and working together as a diverse community. The Dudley reimagined block is a collaborative effort of the City of Alamogordo and 3 nonprofit organizations working together to create a center of community pride: the Tularosa Basin Historic Society, The Alamogordo Tool Library and With Many Hands, Alamogordo.
Congratulations to the Public Garden & Tool Library, located near the boundaries of Chihuahuita, a historic barrio area of Alamogordo, just across the street from what used to be a school from 1914 that is being restored and reimagined into a community center and museum focused on Hispanic and Black History from the neighborhood.

The historic La Luz Pottery Factory hosts free classes every Wednesday and Saturday at 1 pm. For further information and to sign up call the Museum at 575-434-4438.
And then for those loving musicals and community theater, Saturday night marked the final performance of the bold and ambitious project of the Alamogordo Music Theater in presenting RENT.
Every night of this performance the Flickinger Center hosted a crowd of diverse community members that appreciated the music and performance of local actors and entertainers bringing a little bit of Broadway to Alamogordo.
