Area sports action this weekend lets begin with Cross Country:

Cloudcroft High School Cross Country hosted the meet this weekend in the toughest course in all of New Mexico at 9000ft elevation.

AlamogordoTownNews.com was at the Leupold Sweet 16 Tournament in Las Cruces with Alamogordo Tigers Volleyball:

The Alamogordo Tiger Girls Volleyball was 0 and 3 in morning pool play and 1 and 2 in afternoon pool play at the Jane Leupold Sweet 16 Tournament in Las Cruces. The Lady Tigers then faced Deming at 9 AM Saturday in first bracket match. The Alamogordo Lady Tigers then  defeated Deming in straight sets at the Jane Leupold Sweet 16 Tournament in Las Cruces. 

 The Lady Tigers improved their record to 1 and 3 to next play Santa Teresa. Santa Teresa then defeated the  Alamogordo Lady Tigers in straight sets (25-6, 25-17, 25-18) at Jane Leupold Sweet 16 Tournament in Las Cruces.  The Lady Tigers next host Santa Teresa on Tuesday.

The Gateway Christian Volleyball Tournament with Mescalero Apache:

NMMI Volleyball defeated Mescalero Apache in straight sets.  The Lady Chiefs dropped to 0-2, before the Gateway Christian Tournament in Roswell that was hosted Friday & Saturday. Mescalero Apache defeated  Hondo Valley in straight sets at Gateway Christian Tournament. They were 3-1 in pool play earlier on Friday. Legacy Academy then defeated Mescalero Apache in straight sets at the Gateway Christian Tournament in Roswell. The Lady Chiefs droppex to 1-3, and next played Quemado for 3rd place. Quemado the. defeated Mescalero Apache in straight sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-12) in 3rd place game at Gateway Christian Tournament. The Lady Chiefs record is now 1 win and 4 losses. They next host Alamo Navajo on Friday.

The Moriarty Volleyball Tournament with Tularosa. 

Albuquerque Academy Volleyball defeated Tularosa in straight sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-11) at the Moriarty Tournament. The Lady Cats were then at  1 and 1. They then proceeded to play Hot Springs defeating them in 4 sets (25-18, 25-18, 19-25, 25-21) at the Moriarty Tournament.  The Lady Cats improved their record to to 2 and 1 to next play Valencia. Valencia defeated Tularosa in straight sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-22) in 5th place match at Moriarty Tournament.
The Lady Cats dropped to 2 wins and 2 losses and next play at Ruidoso on Thursday.

In Girls Soccer Girls Soccer play:

Alamogordo defeated Lovington 5-2. The stats included Sierra Symons with 3 goals, Kay Beach had 2 goals. Elizabeth Needham with an assist. The Lady Tigers Soccer team improved their record to 4 wins and 3 losses. They next play at Silver on Thursday.

In Boys Soccer Roswell defeated the Alamogordo Boys  3 to 1 at the Coyote Classic in Roswell. The stats were William Ochoa with the Tigers goal, Wyatt Holt had an assist.  The Tiger Boys Soccer team was  defeated by Carlsbad 2 to 1 at the Coyote Classic in Roswell. Tigers goal from Gabe Arellano, assisted by Tyheed Lewis.
The Tiger Boys overall record dropped to and 6 they next host Portales on Tuesday.
