Per a MainGate United post, Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center on Thursday, signed a merger agreement, with a Catholic health group based in Irving, Texas called Christus Health as previously reported as soon to happen by AlamogordoTownNews.com

Per a series of posts on the MainGate United social media pages; “we have exciting news to share with all of you! CHRISTUS Health will be funding a new local foundation with $240 million. The name of the foundation is Sacramento Mountains! Exciting opportunities and positive changes are unfolding for us and our community!”

MainGate United further posted; “we are eager to share a collection of photos capturing the contract signing ceremony between Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center and Christus Health. The event was graced by the presence of prominent civic leaders from our community, further emphasizing the importance and impact of this collaboration!”

This partnership agreement was solidified  on the same day that civil rights and reproductive nonprofits urged leadership to slow down the merger and answer questions about reproductive health care access, gaps in other health care and potential price changes in a letter to hospital leadership.

We ask that you take this opportunity to build trust with those you serve by, at the very least, extending that time frame, particularly given the repeated assurances that GCRMC is not in financial distress,” said the letter , signed by members of the New Mexico American Civil Liberties Union and Bold Futures NM.

The local organization called MainGate United’s mission is to provide unconditional support for the missions at Holloman Air Force Base, White Sands Missile Range, and Fort Bliss. They will promote careful coordination, communication, and cooperation with all community partners, and all persons who share the goal of protecting, preserving, and promoting Holloman Air Force Base.

Given the mission of MainGate United and the partnership involving the
posted photos of the “contract signing ceremony” on Facebook Thursday afternoon it’s a clear sign the military leadership supports this merger.

Gerald Champion CEO Jim Heckert is pictured with Christus Health CEO Ernie Sadau in at least one of the photos. A video including the announced that Christus Health will fund a new local foundation with a $240 million donation can be found at the link below…
