In Memory of Adelin Frances Stokes Schauer

Adelin Frances Stokes Schauer, age 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 16, 2026, in "the little chapel" at Christ Community Church in Alamogordo.

Adelin was born in Carrizozo, New Mexico on August 22, 1932. She cherished her early years growing up on her family's ranch outside of town before moving to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico where she graduated from high school. She went on to attend Texas Tech University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Following college, Adelin moved to Roswell, New Mexico where she met and married William Carl "Bill" Schauer. Together they raised two children, Leda and Tony. The family eventually settled in High Rolls Mountain Park, New Mexico surrounded by tall pine trees, apple orchards, trout ponds, and winter snows.

Following Bill's passing and as her children established their careers, Adelin pursued further education, earning a counseling degree from CBN University. She then dedicated many years to serving the emotional and spiritual needs of her community. In later years, she moved down the mountain to Alamogordo where she happily spent the last two decades of her active life volunteering for political events, enjoying lunches with friends, and deepening her fellowship within the local Christian community.

Throughout her life, Adelin was a devoted servant leader, serving as the Southern New Mexico Area President of Women’s Aglow Fellowship, President of Alamogordo Republican Women, and sharing her musical talents as an organist and pianist while teaching Sunday school at various churches.

Adelin is survived by her son, Tony Schauer and his wife, Linda; her grandchildren, Jessica, Thomas, Sarah, Cheryl, and Robin; nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Schauer; her daughter, Leda Schauer; her beloved brother, Dewey Stokes.
