Sadie Jo Stogden was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, beloved Nina and friend. She lived a life rooted in faith, family, service, and an unwavering desire to care for others.
Sadie is now reunited in eternal life with her beloved husband, Robert Gomez Stogden; her mother, Bessie Gonzales; her father, Lazaro Gonzales; her brothers, Rudy Gonzales, George Gonzales, and Albert Gonzales; her sister-in-law, Gloria Gonzales; and her grandsons, Lawrence "Lencho" Arriola and James Arriola.
She leaves behind a beautiful family who will forever carry her love and memory. She is survived by her son, Alfonso Stogden Sr., and his wife, Lidia Stogden; her daughter, Melissa Arriola, and her husband, Lawrence Arriola; her four grandchildren, Alfonso Stogden Jr., Rebecca Stogden, Robert Arriola, and Jesse Arriola, and nine great-grandchildren; her brothers, Edward Gonzales and Charles Gonzales, and his wife, Patricia Gonzales, along with many extended family members and loved ones whose lives she touched.
Sadie was a devoted Catholic and longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Her faith was an important part of her life. She generously gave many years of her time to the church, especially enjoying the annual fiesta and faithfully attending Saturday evening Mass.
Sadie dedicated much of her life to working with and caring for children. She retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District, where her passion for helping young people was evident throughout her career. She later spent more than 25 years at the Zia Therapy Center, a place that brought her great joy and allowed her to continue doing what she loved most-helping and caring for others.
Sadie had a giving heart and a natural desire to help those around her. Whether through her faith, her work, her family, or simple acts of kindness, she made people feel cared for and loved.
Above all, Sadie’s greatest love was her family. Her strength, compassion, faith, and generous spirit will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.
Sadie leaves a beautiful legacy of faith and love-not only within her family, but in the hearts of everyone blessed enough to have crossed her path. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
Services will be held Thursday, September 17th at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church beginning at 9:00 am with a viewing, followed by the Rosary at 9:30, Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 and graveside at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery at 11:45. A potluck luncheon will be held the ICCC Hall from 12:00 pm till 4:00 pm.
