Erlinda Garcia, the heart and soul of our family, was called home to heaven on August 1, 2026. Erlinda was born on December 9, 1935 to Antonio and Gregoria (Valenzuela) Granados in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Erlinda is survived by 4 children; Pat Borunda, Tony (Vivian) Garcia, Judy Garcia and Greg (Stephanie) Garcia; 14 grandchildren, Jeanette (Nathanial Redekopp) Borunda, Jennifer (Louie) Ramirez, Jessica (Anthony) Salsberry, Linda (Hannah Hughes) Borunda, Kristin Garcia Solis, David Michael (Kim) Gallegos, Bobbi Lynn Gallegos, Lucas Gallegos, Amy Stith, Antony Garcia, Christopher (Jennifer) Garcia, Christine Garcia and Caedon Garcia; 20 great-grandchildren; Michael Borunda-Salsberry, Dominic Borunda-Ramirez and AJ Salsberry, AJ Solis and Alex Solis, Josh Marchand and Melinda Gibson, Alyssa Martinez and Julianna Short, Mendey, Chastity and Tasha Stith, Mario (Becca) Gallegos, Nadia Gallegos, Makyla Gallegos, Julyssa Flores, Grayson and Lucas Tate Gallegos, Chris Garcia Jr. and Sarai Garcia; 10 great-great-grandchildren and one on the way. She is also survived by brother-in-law Domingo (Rosanne) Garcia Jr., Pedro (Rosie) Garcia, and Manuelita (Joe Quintana) Salgado.
She was preceded in death by her husband Antonio Garcia, son David Garcia, granddaughter Krystal Rae Garcia, son-in-law Frank Borunda, parents Antonio and Gregoria Granados, brother Ernesto Granados, sister Virginia Barbero and parents-in-law Domingo and Francisca Garcia.
Erlinda worked in the supermarket industry for many years. After retiring, she along with her husband, opened a daycare facility in their home, caring for countless children for decades, before closing. Several of the children they cared for still called her grandma and continued to drop in to visit her often where they were always welcomed with open arms.
The family would like to extend thanks to Alamogordo Home Health Care and Hospice for the gentle and tender care they extended to our mother and grandmother. Special thanks to Whitney and Donna.
The recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. and Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1404 College Ave., Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Burial will immediately follow at the La Luz Catholic Cemetery.
