It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mary Lou Gomez who passed on June 8, 2026. She was born on May 25, 1948, in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Micaela and Lazaro Garcia, the youngest of six children.
Mary Lou was devoted to her Catholic faith and loved her family deeply. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and kindness that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Mary Lou was born and raised in Alamogordo and worked for many years as a secretary. Her final position was at ICC Parish, where she faithfully served until her retirement. She loved dancing, enjoyed a good margarita, and was an enthusiastic sports fan. No matter the season, you could often find her watching a game or cheering on her favorite team.
Mary Lou is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 58 years, Ruben Gomez; her daughter, Jennifer Gomez; her son, Ruben “Jon” Gomez; her daughter-in-law, Sonia Gomez; her granddaughter, Sophia Gomez. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David and Lazaro Garcia; her sisters, Margaret Gonzales, Ernestina Provencio, Veronica Viscarra.
Services for Mary Lou Gomez will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will greet friends from 9:30 am to 10:00 am. Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am with Funeral Mass celebrated at 10:30 am. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.
