James Farmer of Tularosa passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on October 13, 1942, in Carrizozo, New Mexico, to Espiridion and Angela (Guilez) Farmer. He was the third of eight children.
In 1970, James made his home in Tularosa, where he lived for the remainder of his life. James dedicated many years to his work at City Glass in Alamogordo before embracing his entrepreneurial spirit and founding his own business, Sun Valley Glass & Feed. He had a lifelong love of horses, owning many over the years and honored the “Western Lifestyle”.
An avid hunter, James enjoyed time spent in the mountains of Three Rivers. Anyone that was familiar with him, knew that he loved country music and never passed up a chance to dance, even if it was at home in the kitchen. James dedicated over 16 years as a volunteer at Mescalero Apache Schools, assisting in Anne’s kindergarten class. He took great pride in this work and felt he made a meaningful impact on the lives of many students.
James is survived by his beloved wife, Anne; daughters, Valerie and Teresa (Eddie); sons, Jimmy (Rachelle), David (Bonnie), and Jeff; 13 grandchildren, Freddy, Kristen, Jason, Michael, Joseph, Robert, Brandy, Kyra, Tristan, Riley, Cameron, Nora, Kyle; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Elfida (James), Sylvia (Johnny), and Belle; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends he acquired over the years.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Espiridion and Angela; brothers, Speedy and Johnny; sisters, Mary Jane and Elaine.
A Celebration of Life for James was held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
