Erika K. Rambo, age 90, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Born on September 21, 1935, in Germany to Anton Kwapis and Maria Agnes Kwapis, Erika was one of six children. She grew up with a deep appreciation for family, kindness, and the simple joys of life - values she carried with her throughout her years. Erika married Joseph Rambo, Sr. in 1969, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. The couple eventually made their home in the United States, spending many happy years in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, before Erika later moved to Alamogordo.
Erika is survived by her son, Joseph Rambo, Jr. of Alamogordo; her six beloved grandchildren - Zachary Rambo, Faith Rambo, Brittany Rambo, and three additional grandchildren in Germany (Debbie’s children) whom she loved dearly; and her cherished dog, Liaka. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debbie of Germany; her father, Anton Kwapis; and her mother, Maria Agnes Kwapis.
Known for her gentle spirit and kind heart, Erika touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was the sweetest lady - always offering a smile, a story, or a helping hand. Her warmth, love, and laughter will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
A Celebration of Life for Erika will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Scenic Chapel Funeral Home in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of a truly remarkable woman.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Casa Arena Nursing Home and to friends who were a big part of loving her and taking care of her throughout her journey over the last few years.
