Martha Montoya, an 86-year-young, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at home in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Pablo (Benito) Montoya; her mother, Beatrice Kimbrell Romero; her father, Federico (Fred) Fresquez Romero; daughter, Nidelia Marie Montoya; great grandson, Evan Archibeque; and son-in-law, Oscar Perez. She is survived by brother, Freddie and wife Lori Romero; sister, Theresa Torres; daughter, Ysella Perez and son, Benito and wife, Elsa Enriquez Montoya.
Martha was known to many as Grandma Toya, especially to her grandchildren; Cassandra Archibeque and Blain Morlan; Nicole and husband, Geter Harrell; Mia and husband, Keith Bullard; Patrick Archibeque; Andrez and wife, Rachel Montoya; Emilio and wife, Aubrey Montoya; and Armando Montoya. She had sixteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha was born in Roswell, N.M. and raised in Picacho, N.M. Pablo and Martha moved to Alamogordo in 1959, where she raised her family. Martha was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. She participated in Church activities, worked on home repairs and had a great desire to travel. Martha enjoyed just getting in the car and seeing where the road would lead her and Pablo. Upon Pablo’s retirement they purchased a motorhome and then a trailer, joining the Paisano’s, traveling across the country, creating great friendships. Favorite memories included watching their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, while they participated in sports, science fairs, folkorico dancing, etc…
Services for Martha will be held at St. Jude’s Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico
on Saturday, November 8, 2025
Visitation from 11:00am to 11:30am
Rosary will be recited at 11:30
Mass and Interment will be celebrated at 12:00pm with Father Martin Cordero officiating.
Reception will be held afterward at the family home at 1803 23rd Street.
