Vereen Iann Houston, age 65, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, in El Paso, Texas. She was born on November 11, 1959, in Bordeaux, France to Rolland and Callie Curtis.
We were incredibly fortunate to know her and be guided by her strength, generosity, and compassion. Vereen was a devoted and resilient woman who raised her three children on her own and later became the primary caregiver for her beloved mother for over a decade. Her selflessness and unwavering love were constants throughout her life.
Vereen formed and cherished many friendships over the years. She was always ready to lend a hand or an ear to anyone in need. Known for her warm heart and generous spirit, she was deeply loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was active for many years with the VFW and took great pride in her community involvement. Vereen’s creativity and humor brightened the lives of those around her. She worked as a florist at Stones Garden for many years and later continued her passion for floral design by crafting beautiful bouquets for her children’s and grandchildren’s weddings. Her creativity also shone through in the many cozy blankets, pillows, and playful costumes she made.
Vereen’s quirky personality and joyful outlook were unforgettable, from dressing as a clown to take her children to school, to answering the phone with her signature greeting, “Hello, this is me. Is this you?”. Her humor and light-heartedness brought laughter and warmth wherever she went.
