Mary Ruth Mattingly Brown, 98, passed away on September 22, 2025, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on August 7, 1927, in Leonardtown, Maryland to Charles and Agnes (Miles) Mattingly.
Ruth and her husband, Bob started Rocky Mountain Supply in 1975, which is still in operation today. She was a long time member of Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church and a resident of Laborcita Canyon for 61 years.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Brent Brown, Jr. and wife, Carolyn, Dennis Brown and wife, Terry, Larry Brown and wife, Valerie, Douglas Brown and wife, Tracy; daughters, Gwen Henderson and husband, Jack, and Nancy O’Neil; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, sister, Joan Raley and brother, Joseph Mattingly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Mattingly; mother, Agnes Brown; her husband of 41 years, Robert Brent (Bob) Brown (born November 16, 1917, died March 8, 1989); 2 brothers, CJ and Miles; and 5 sisters, Ann, Margaret, Betty, Mary Jane and Mary Agnes; and 2 grandsons.
Services were Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church in La Luz, New Mexico. Viewing is at 8:30 am followed by the rosary at 9:00 am. The funeral service will be conducted at 9:30 am, with Father Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery at 11:00 am, with Deacon Andy officiating.
Pallbearers include Brent Brown, Dennis Brown, Larry Brown, Douglas Brown, Michael Brown, and Ray Brown.
The Brown family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the funeral services.
