In Memory of Darlene Elizabeth Lowe

Darlene Elizabeth Lowe, 75, was born December 10, 1949, in Hickory, North Carolina to Cloyd Billy (CB) and Mamie (Barlow) Curtis. She passed from this life to her everlasting reward on August 6, 2025, in her home in La Luz, New Mexico.

Darlene was an active member of The Church of God since 1962. She was a minister's kid and grew up in the Church, served as a Camp Counselor for many years, and was a minister's wife for over 40 years.

Darlene Curtis married the love of her life, Thurman Jackson Lowe, in Portales, New Mexico on June 30, 1967. To the union came one daughter, Jannece Lowe (Colon) and one son, Timothy Lowe. Darlene and Thurman were self-employed in Hobbs, New Mexico at Surplus City from 1970-1982, and Lowe's RV from 1983-2017. After retiring, they moved their home to La Luz, New Mexico.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Thurman Lowe of La Luz, New Mexico; daughter, Jannece Colon and husband Richard of Alamogordo, New Mexico; daughter, Tamra Abney and husband Peter of Hobbs, New Mexico; 2 brothers, Rodney Curtis of Philippines and Marty Curtis of Gaffney, South Carolina; 2 sisters-in-law, Nellie Lowe of Magna, Utah and Pauletta Curtis of Hobbs, New Mexico; 7 grandchildren, Richard and wife Taylor Colon of Tempe, Arizona, Trinity and husband Geovanni Flores of Hobbs, New Mexico, Emily Colon of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Kimberly Colon of Mesa, Arizona, and Tristin Lowe of Hobbs, New Mexico; 2 great grandchildren both of Hobbs, New Mexico.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cloyd Billy (CB) and Mamie Curtis; her parents by marriage, Theodore and Jetta Lee Lowe; 1 brother, Johnny Curtis; and her son, Timothy Lowe.

The Funeral Service for Darlene will be held at The Church of God at 916 E 16th Street in Alamogordo, New Mexico on Monday, August 11, 2025. Viewing and Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Funeral Service will be at 10:00, followed by Burial at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Bishop Richard Colon will officiate services.

The family would like to invite you to a dinner following the burial at 1:00 p.m. at the family home in La Luz.
