Kathryn Faye Phillips departed this life on Monday, July 28, 2025 at 9:30 pm. She was the third daughter born to Odell and Dorothy Calloway. She was baptized at an early age at Mars Hill Baptist Church in Jena, Louisiana. She attended Good Pine High School. During her high school years, she was a superb girls basketball player and marching band majorette. In her adult life, she sang in the choir, worked as a nurses aid, a seamstress, a bank teller and an autistic home aid for minor children.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents Odell and Dorothy Calloway, son Tracy Phillips, two sisters Carolyn Rice and Delores Brown.
Her memories are cherished by her husband of 51 years Larry A. Phillips, daughter Kendal Phillips, and great-niece Lyric Rice. Her memory will live on with Aunt Velma Holly and sisters Mildred (George) Henderson and Valerie Thompson.
Kathryn was an extraordinary woman. She had a kind heart, a beautiful spirit and many outstanding talents. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her entire family, including nieces, nephews cousins, friends and neighbors.
The family will greet friends at Alamogordo Funeral Home on Saturday August 9, 2025 at 10:00 am.
The funeral service for Kathryn will be held at 11:00 am with Delmos Lowe officiating.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
