In Memory of Sharron L Burnett

Sharron L Burnett, 83 passed away on July 18, 2025 in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on February 11, 1942, in Great Falls, MT to Scotty and Claire Zion.

Sharron grew up in Great Falls, MT and attended Colorado Women’s College in Denver, CO for two years then transferred to the University of Arizona in Tucson AZ, where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She returned home to Great Falls where she met and married her husband Bernard Burnett who was stationed there in the US Air Force. They were married for 57 and half years until he passed away in February of 2023.

Sharron was a devoted wife and mother. As a dedicated stay at home mom, she was an active and avid play companion, creative arts director, and head chairman of fun and merriment to the benefit of her two daughters. Sharron, always available for her children, provided integral love, support, and guidance in her daughter’s daily life.

Her passion and devotion for caring, supporting and helping women and children is evident in the many volunteer organizations and positions she held. She was active member of Grace United Methodist Church for over 50 and taught Children’s Church for over a decade. She participated in Christians Women’s Club and then became part of Women’s Aglow where she not only was she a devoted member but was president of the Alamogordo Chapter for over 25 years. Beyond the immeasurable skill sets necessary to successfully operate a non-profit organization, her kind and exemplary nature allowed her to support women from all different backgrounds and hardships. She also developed and implemented an annual Christian Harvest Festival that presented a safe and fun alternative for children on Halloween for more than 15 years. She was also always willing to support, listen, counsel, pray or help anyone who was in need regardless of the day or time. The neighborhood stray cats also benefited from her kindness and many found a home in her backyard.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Jennifer Burnett, Lucinda White and husband Gary White; two grandsons, Jonathan and Lucas White; and her sister Candi Zion. She was preceded in death by husband, Bernard Burnett.
